Hi I’m Kate, founder of Thumbs Away.

I love helping families.

I believe when we help children with their sleep, breathing and oral habits we can set children on a path to health and wellbeing.

It’s not just my 20 years of experience working as a Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myologist that’s ignited my passion for helping little faces develop to their full genetic potential. It’s the fact that I am mum to 2 beautiful children of my own. So, when I say I understand the challenges of finger, thumb and dummy sucking, I really do understand.

Working in the dental industry means I’ve treated many adults with a combination of crowded teeth, dental decay and gum disease. These are all very common dental concerns that can be connected to mouth breathing and oral habits. So now when I see an adult who is breathing through their mouth, I think of all the possible complications this may mean for their teeth.

Correcting these issues when your child is young and developing can help prevent issues later in life. And the simplest tool in helping children grow to their potential? Teaching them how to quit the finger, thumb or dummy sucking habit.
